99 Softail value
Hello all, touring guy here with a Softail question. Long story short, $3700. Brother in laws bike, wanting it for the wife. Carbed, I believe it to be stock. No known issues.
How's the mileage? If clean and good title and looks like it was well maintained, I'd be bringing $100 bills.
You can use nadaguide and kbb as a guide for pricing. Factor in things like tires. Learn how to check the DOT date codes on tires and if over 5 years old, replace, no matter what condition.
There are also several models of Softails, some more desirable than others. Share a pic if you can.
One other thing - as a rule, I "rarely" do business with friends or family. Turkey dinner doesn't taste as good when you feel you got shanked.

I had a 99 fatboy an IMO the 96 an later evo's are the ones to get....minor updates over the years done to the model are all there an in 96 they went to the newer switches an wiring...if it's been well maintained an not abused that's a good price IMO...I paid $5k for my 99 fatboy with 18K on it.
Last year I happily pad $6,500 for a 99 FXSTS in excellent condition and all the extras that I would have done. Apes, sissy bar, luggage rack and a lot of chrome bits along with a S&S carb and breather.
Runs beautiful. Was traded in by the former owner of Armalite guns.
