so I finally saw the new 114 ci fatboy in person today and I like a lot of the new styling. With a little help and a lot of extra money I am sure I can make the new fatboy look great. Early this week I had been calling and visiting the dealers in my area getting quotes on trade in on the new bike and the best deal I have is my 2007 night train plus 12k to take the bike home. I don't think that is a terrible deal but my inner self is screaming to wait. I really like my night train and I have it setup to where I am happy but I can't help but have new bike envy. 12k seems like a big gap and if it were a little lower I would probably be taking it home. I am sure there are others who are torn on taking the plunge and I hope I made the right choice to walk on the deal even though I keep thinking about it.

Speaking as former (car) salesman in another life, make sure that's not an "if" or a lowball offer. In other words, did the salesman actually say straight up that he would trade for $12,000.00 difference, or did he say something like, "Okay, you go and think about your trade plus $12K and get back with me?"
If it was the second one, he may have lowballed to get you back. Just be wary of that.

That sounds like a great deal to me. There is no comparison between a 07 and the all new 18. Totally different motorcycles.
As the number of first generation softails being traded in grows, the trade value will decline. Happened when the Rushmore baggers came out, again when the M8 was introduced.
If your in a position to trade now, it's my bet that you would be making a smart move.
That new Fatboy 114 is a great bike. Handles very light & the 114 is a great running motor. If I could come up with the Scratch & convince my wife I need a 4th bike I would definitely pick one up. Don't care for the head light & not having a heel shifter, but throw some more $$$ at it & I'm sure it could be fixed
