Default middle tank divider and speedometer removal- search term help

Can anyone tell how are these tank dividers called? cant find the search term and would like to get one.

any tips on what to expect after removing the speedometer? is it difficult to install comparing to my nut-screwing-skills-only in a home garage? thanks

Can't see any pic, nor can I tell what yr and model you have, so kinda hard to help. But most of those flat things in the center of a tank are called Tank Panels, unless you have a dash panel. So in order for anyone to help you with your speedo question we need to know where it located too. I can only guess it mounted on the tank? if so, it's pretty staright forward. Kind of a plug and play sorta thing. Best bet is to get yourself a service manual.

The black panel you are pointing to is the console. To remove, you'd carefully use a pick to CAREFULLY pry up the bar & shield emblem and underneath there is a nut that connects the console to the tank.

It sounds like the op wants to install a black line dash. Depending on what year the softail is will determine if you need to swap out your fuel pump plate.

I had the same situation on my '13 Heritage. You have to pry it up SOFTLY and you'll see the nut. If the panel has never been lifted or removed, you're going to think there's another bolt somewhere. I searched and searched to find any info on another nut or bolt somewhere. Turns out it was just on there really good, due to it had never been lifted before. The speedo is just a plug and go. Good Luck. Oh, and a lot of patients helps.
