Cool timer cover

my friend has a 2010 fatboy lo he bougt a new timer cover with the 5 chrome harley screws..he said they all screwed in but one . can he use a tap on that thread, he put the stock timer cover back on with the stock srews tighted right up ??

I would chase the threads with a tap, see if that helps.The chrome plating on the threads of the screw could also be cleaned up,sometimes that plating contributes to the problem.

If the stock screws go in all the way it sounds like he needs to run a Die nut down the thread on the chrome screws.

I looked up the part to try and find the thread size for you and discovered it's a self tapping screw part No 68042-99 which explains why it's tight.
