Take care of you first, Once you are back in health you can make the decision that fills your heart. After all, we are here to live it up and hopefully learn from our mistakes.
Do you have Diabetes? Just asking because this happened to a friend of mine only he was out on the road entering a curve. He was in the hospital for over a week with a collapsed lung and many other injuries. This was his 2nd time and now he is selling his bikes.
Find out for sure which it was that happened to you before you either drive or ride again.
I bought a new Schuber C3Pro helmet and it was still in the box when I crashed ! Didn't think I needed one in a small parking lot ! Helmet would have saved my face ! Stupid is as stupid does !
But hey... At least you saved an expensive brand new helmet from getting trashed...
I like how you come here looking for our thoughts. Knew a fella who at about 75 years old broke his ankle trying to move his bagger in the driveway. He ended up selling the bike after riding all his life. But obviously you have a flame burning to ride again. After 40 years of providing for said family, maybe it is time for Dad to enjoy himself some more? Maybe consider a trike?
Glad you weren't hurt worse. If it's possible you passed out while operating a vehicle, you need to stay off the road whether it's a bike or car, until that gets sorted by a doctor. I had pneumonia a few years ago that would cause me to have coughing fits bad enough to lose consciousness from lack of oxygen getting to my brain....it sucks, but if you black out, you're just a death missile to yourself or some other poor victim.
Figure out your condition, fix it, then figure out your ride options. Trike, Spyder, all good options too. Here's to your health and happy years ahead.
If your blacking out I wouldn't operate any vehicle 2 wheels or 4 until a doctor can figure out the reason. You are putting everyone on the road @ risk.....

not even going to beat you up for this one.
but.. it may be time for a real sports car... not a vette.
