Model difference halp!
2016 Breakout owner here...
Happily, I like my older model over the new 2018, but I'm looking for some clarity. I searched back past a year ago, but didn't find anything related to the new bikes.
I confused on some of the designations currently. In the old days (2 months ago), a Fat Bob was a Dyna, and a Fat Boy was a softail.
So in the current (and recent) vernacular, we had models that are/were:
Can I go to the dealer and ask:
And if so, what do they mean?

There is no more Dyna frame.
Some of the Dyna names were used on new model Softails
Softail frame has been completely redesigned
There is a model comparison tool on Harley’s site which lets you compare three models at a time.

I get that Prot, but what do they mean? I can compare, but the specs are the same.
What's a "BOB" get me style-wise? What's a "SLIM"? And if there's a model x, and a model x SLIM, what's the difference?

I don’t think a “Bob” means anything. It’s just a name.
In the case of the Slim, it’s basically a skinnier, stripped down version of a Fat Boy.
The “S” after a model name is an appearance and performance package with some extras like cruise control. S models are usually blacked out a bit with a bigger engine.

Sorry if I sound rough but go to a dealer ..look at the bikes ..ask questions. Then go home and it looks like you have access to the internet and do some research. There are some many places to get information from/...search the forums...search google....you will find your answers and learn a lot in the process...you will learn more and be better for it by finding out yourself
Bob is short for Bobber a minimalistic style from way back.Fat bob is a fat bobber
Low rider is guess what it's low.
Wide glide raked front and wide trees.
Breakout is like bling out.
Night train is usually blacked out.
And so on.

Go get a FREE parts and accessories catalog from the dealer as they show the parts in model sections. IE: dyna, softail, sportster, etc. That should help expalin your delima.
