Model difference halp!
Happily, I like my older model over the new 2018, but I'm looking for some clarity. I searched back past a year ago, but didn't find anything related to the new bikes.
I confused on some of the designations currently. In the old days (2 months ago), a Fat Bob was a Dyna, and a Fat Boy was a softail.
So in the current (and recent) vernacular, we had models that are/were:
- BOB
- S
- SLIM
- SPECIAL
- Low Rider
Can I go to the dealer and ask:
- Show me the Bobs?
- Show me the Specials?
- Show me the Slims?
And if so, what do they mean?
Some of the Dyna names were used on new model Softails
Softail frame has been completely redesigned
There is a model comparison tool on Harley’s site which lets you compare three models at a time.
What's a "BOB" get me style-wise? What's a "SLIM"? And if there's a model x, and a model x SLIM, what's the difference?
In the case of the Slim, it’s basically a skinnier, stripped down version of a Fat Boy.
The “S” after a model name is an appearance and performance package with some extras like cruise control. S models are usually blacked out a bit with a bigger engine.
Low rider is guess what it's low.
Wide glide raked front and wide trees.
Breakout is like bling out.
Night train is usually blacked out.
And so on.
