Model difference halp!
They mean nothing ...... they are marketing terms pure and simple... just a name, with maybe a nod to a past style or bike.....
HD uses both names from the past, and some they make up. They try to either capture the emotion/connection from a past bike style or to label the look of a new style bike.... HD will also add a letter designator to a current model, because it may come with a desirable option like a 114 engine v the standard 107 engine. HD learned (with the CVO) that people will pay much more money for a same/similar bike with options, as long as they have their own exclusive name...
Hell, even the new softails aren't really softails anymore...... Harley kept the name to use the connection people had with a past product, to market a new product.
They could have said, "Harley-Davidson's new mono-shock frame debuts...." But that's not how they do things..
HD is always walking a line between something new and banking on their past success and their heritage....
Hey, "Heritage" would be a great name for an HD model...!
