Default GAS - One more time

I run only high octane in my bike.
When I was filling up today a thought struck me. I am looking at the pump and the LONG hose coming out of it and I think; What if the guy in front of me bought low octane? At LEAST the first 1/2 gal (maybe more) I get is not going to be high octane. You have to purge the low octane out of the hose before you start getting high octane. Not worried about it, the thought just occurred to me.
What say you?

I use 94 octane, when possible, so even if a little 87 gets mixed in there, I don't think it really matters. I am at about 3500 miles on an 07' deluxe and it runs well, so far.

Think about this. Is the gas shut off at the nozle or at the pump (before the hose)?

I think you're prolly right. It would stand to make sense that it shuts off at the pump.

I just run about a 1/2 gallon out on the ground before I fill up. That takes care of it.

My owners manual says 89 minimum so if running 93 you should be ok.

OK the shut off is at the nozzle. theres a soneloid valve at the pump but its ran by the handle switch, so, yeah your getting alittle of what the person bought before you..unless its a multi-hose dispenser(1 hose for each product). theres about 3 cups of fuelin a 3/4 x 10 foot hose (standard).. If you wanna get real picky (youll like this one) you'd be more worried about filters, most pumps have filters in them.. some 10 micron, some 30 micron, and some have filter blanks which is a bypass. I change alot of these filters and you wouldnt believe the muddy lookin stuff that comes out of them..looks like choclate milk almost. Next time your really bored take a glass canning jar when you goto the station, put alittle in the jar and let it settle out.. thats the best way to see what your actually buying.
