Thanks I agree. I just thought that better than the aluminium mufflers if they were black it would have gone well with the vivid black. Right now I thought it looks a bit odd on a vivid black FB. I will think about changing only the mufflers to black SE in the future as you have mentioned nothing else. Sound wise I am quite happy with the current one. My Street 750 has all the accessories one can think of and it has a great low growl with a jet engine whine. I am going to miss that.

Following all the 2018 Threads with a watching eye. Really interested how the new ones handle from member input, and thinking of getting one!

Hello Everybody - can anyone who has already bought the 2018 Fat Bob let me know whether there is a break in period for this bike and if so the speed restriction required to be maintained and upto what number of miles/kilometres.
Thanks

Well.....IIRC....the manual says keep it under 3K RPM for the first 100 miles and then keep it under 3.5K RPM for the next 400 miles. Or something similar to that.

However - there are several schools of thought about engine break-in and I subscribe to the one that says you need to seat the piston rings properly in the first 20-50 miles max. That means repeated hard pulls (10X+) from approx 30-50 mph, then 50-70mph. Then just ride it normally.

I spent the first 100 miles doing hard pulls at different speeds, then just rode the crap out of it and the bike is running superbly. Can't recommend that YOU should do that, but it's an option.

Bear in mind that these engines are all run up to the redline as part of the factory test procedure anyway, plus the dealer tech doing the PDI probably takes the bike out for a few miles and opens her up wide.

I have always used this schema on all my new bikes (20+ or so) resulting in powerful smooth running engines. Go for it!

I just installed the 2 bros exhaust for my Fatbob 114. And the V/H FP3 is on its way. I will let you know how the auto tune works out. V/H says they aren’t coming out with a 2 to 1 program until well after thanksgiving. But it looks as if Bassani is coming out with theirs this week. I have the 2 bros and looks like a better exhaust in my opinion. Here’s some pics of mine vs Bassani.

Thanks everybody. For the Street 750 I had done exactly what adm has said - I pulled in bursts in the initial stages. Right now it is on a auto tune map using V&H FP3 tuner. Here with the type of traffic we have break in is automatic since I can up only in short spells after which I am forced to slow down. Once again Thanks to all. Now I am only waiting for the bike to show up which I have been told will only happen in December if all goes well.

Is it possible to install the mini footboard from my Street 750 onto the 2018 Fat Bob? HD’s Product and Accessories manual does not show this item. Since the ground clearance is 120mm as compared to the Street which is 140mm I thought of switching it and put the stock foot pegs back onto the Street.

I checked with my dealer and he feels that it should be possible. Since the bike hasn’t come in yet he is not so sure. The Fat Boy has arrived so I have asked him to check it out with the Fat Boy and let me know. I will update once I get the information.
