Default Softail questions

Hello all. I'm a long time forum member, but I frequent the touring boards. I came across a 99 that I got from my brother in law for $3K with 24K miles. While I've learned quite a bit about touring models, I don't know much about Softails. I assume they have the same crappy cam chain tensioners as the touring bikes, but what else should I be on the lookout for? Any opinions are appreciated.

Well, like I said I don’t know much about them. With the introduction of the TC in 99 I thought it was so equipped.

The picture is a limited view, but a low mile EVO
Worth hanging onto if you want a softail.
I miss my EVO, not that I don't like my new bike.
But that carbed low idle is so sweet.
I will have another one someday.

The twin cam wasn't put into the softail line until 2000, when HD came up with the Twin Cam 88B....

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an EVO Heritage..... I had an '89 Heritage EVO, it was a great running, reliable bike.

Give that bike a comprehensive service and a good detailing, and if you find no major issues, you have a gem of a bike!
