Before I bought my 18 i checked the part number for the oil pump to make sure it had the latest version part number 62400178. That is the only part number listed for the 18's. But as someone else pointed out the service manual shows a picture of an early and later version. I suspect that part of the service manual was just carried over from the bagger manual. Reason being the manual was obviously printed before the bikes went into production. But in an effort to find out I called HD tech support. They were no help. I have a very early Softail. So I guess its possible HD used up the last of their stock of version 2 of the oil pump in the early 18's. If anyone has any info on this I would certainly like to know. Thanks.

That was me. It probably wont be a problem with the 107s or Factory 114s. Most problems have been with Stage 3 & 4. Time will tell. I plan to do only Stage 2 and will try to get a gander at the pump I have. Im pretty sure Steve Cole has seen at least 6 different oil pumps on the touring models, but hes rarely on the softail side. Im really wondering why Fuel Moto and Star havent had any problems. Not far from me is R&R which builds some monster motors but I havent seen a thing on their site about M8s yet. There are some guys down in Mass that are building 200-300 hp Turbo bikes but they are EVO and Twin Cam.
My '18 114 Heritage has spent a lot of time above and well above 4,000 RPM and some for extended periods of time. No oil issues at all, no evidence of sumping and no oil usage at all.

Love the bike.
Glad to know. H-D put a factory 114 in my Road King after the 107-114 Stage 3 blew up twice. Im snow bound until probably April and want to take the King to Corpus Christi to visit my Son before the heat kicks in. I have no idea what the internals are, but I measured the stroke thru a spark plug hole and its long compared to my 107. I hope they have it this time fixed for good. The Softail engine has some design changes, hopefully for the better.
