I want to bounce a question off you guys. I put HD heated hand grips on my wifes bike over the winter. The instructions say they are not for internally wired bars, which wasn't a problem because she has stock handlebars.
We are now in the market for new bars for her and I am wondering if anyone has attempted to run the grip wires internally. Insight into any experience, good or bad, would be appreciated. Thanks!

I just got a pair of heated grips and am gonna put them inside the bars. It ain't gonna be easy but it'll work. I'm just waiting on the service manual to arrive.
I was told the reason they are not compatible with the 1 1/4 bars is because the wire has to go into the bar right by the controls. (The bars don't have these holes) So I'm gonna drill a hole into them.
There's not a hell of a lot of space left in the bar but it'll fit.
If it's a complete nightmare and I can't get them through I'll just run the wire outside of the bar, as it is normally supposed to go.
Can't wait for that, ...... to me that's a real luxury, it's on par with the *** warmer in my cage.
Hey there I have personally installed heated grips through handle bars with internal wire not a huge deal. Its a little tight but I used a wire coat hanger thred it through while the grip wires were taped to it and thread it through. I have done this twice. No biggie.
