I took the advice offered in the replies to my question and went Stage II with a torque cam. All SE parts, other than a K&N air filter. I also went with the Auto tuner, just because I wanted too.
I am impressed.
Zero degradation in ride-ability. No backfires, pops, rattles or anything.
The SE slipons do not make a noticeable change in sound at idle, nor when maintaining cruising speed. But they do bark when accelerating hard and snarl when dropping a gear to decelerate. Nothing objectionable, which is important to me. But it does sound nice, to my ears.
Throttle response seems a little more exact. And the bike pulls really nicely between 2000 & 4500 rpm, where I tend to live.
The Heritage 114 doesn’t need modifying. It’s more than adequate stock. The Stage II makes an impressive increase, though.
My motorcycle history is mainly on German & Italian performance bikes. For how I ride on the street, I find this bike more fun, especially with the stage II.
Glad you're happy with it! I'm running Stage II (torque cam) on a Fat Bob, and it's a tremendous amount of fun. I love getting on some twisty back roads and just leaving it in 3rd and hauling around corners -- it pulls strong at a great range of speeds.
