Thank you for pointing out the obvious. I won't bore you by restating the assurances we were handed from Sales, Parts, and Service people that it's possible to lower the bike, that the new parts plus the reduced reach seat would solve everything-or even the fact that I am stuck with fixing this now regardless of how good or bad the purchase was.
I am here looking for information related to lowering the front of the bike without lowering the back-and suggestions on how to lower the rear. Thanks for your help.
P.S.: Whenever you can say "Just Saying" it's likely best left unsaid. Just saying...
Be patient. Progressive is right now working on a shock for the new Softail line. From what literature we have been given, it will be adjustable 2 inches lower and 1 inch higher than stock (from the eyelet I would assume.) What the end product will be, I do not know, but that is what we were told when we inquired.
I was incorrect in my earlier post. The Street Bob does have lowered front suspension but there is another kit available from HD which lowers it further. See page 264 of the parts and accessories catalog
Lowering the rear requires a new shock or a shim. bung king does the opposite and raises the rear by a simple eye bolt attachment. Take your shock to a suspension guy like the motorycle metal dude. I think he's in florida and maybe able to help you rebuild or lower the shock for you.
I would recommend the new Arnott air system too as your wife will be able to find her exact sweet spot. Arnott designed it to go as low as possible without having any handling or clearance issues so it goes from a low of 10.93" to a high of 13.16". Check what the monoshock measure now to see if this will actually help enough or not.
Dont waste your money buying new shocks, rear single shocks are rebuildable and can be custom made for your wife. A good suspension guy, can hook you up
