I have a 1340 on 88 Softail FXSTC with a new super E carb i got the pilot jet 231 main at 70. I'm trying adjust the snap of throttle it fall on it face or back fires. It idles fine I turn the pilot in it stumbles then turn it back out it stumbles so i have it adjusted in the middle . Then I try adjusting accelerator screw for snapping of throttle it won't do it , just backfires , any help woukd be appreciated. Is my jetting ok or am off on my jets?
First make sure there's no air leaks and that your needle, seat and float are all correct man.Only then move on.
The pilot(air/fuel) screw should make it stumble one way and speed up a little then fall on it's face the other way. Can't remember if the SS has an air screw or a fuel screw,if the screw is before the slide, relative to air flow it's an air screw, if after it's a fuel screw
Usually when opening the throttle hard if it falls on it's face(bogs) then revs it's lean.If it stumbles on the way up it's rich.
Remember to change one thing at a time and log the changes.
Man there's plenty of articles on that carb somewhere.
