I never tried the rush pipes but heard they are great. Some say they are pretty loud too. How do they compare to going with pipes instead I wonder?
Hard to say, because it all depends on which baffle you choose. I think the 2" baffles are just right, very deep and rumbly, but some might think they are a bit loud. I had the 1.75" baffles in for about 5000 miles, and they were quieter, but for me the tone wasn't quite right.
By the way, with a stock twin-cam 88 (06 Heritage Classic), Stage 1 air cleaner and the Rush pipes, my bike dynoed out at 71.5 horsepower and 75.5 torque. Not bad for a pair of slip-ons. I'm about to go to V&H Big Shot Longs with the quiet baffles (I like the look on the Heritage), so we'll soon see how that works out on the dyno. I think with the quiet baffles they will sound about like the Rush with 2" baffles. For sure, though, any 2:1 will generally do better than any slip-ons. I just don't care for the look on the Heritage--but they look killer on some bikes!
RUSH !! I have the 2 inch baffles on my 06 Standardand the sound is great. They have just the right tone. I too was worried about being too loud. I live in a quiet country neighbourhood, and leave for work at 6 AM so I dont want to wake everyone up. The sound is not annoying for you or the neighbours. The 2 inch I find just right. The 1.75 is a little bit quieter but the tone isnt quite there as they are in the 2 inch. If you dont like the baffles that you buy, you can change them for louder or quieter -- and are easy to install. They are definately better than the SE
I just put the 2in on my 07 Heritage 1200 miles ago, it has a great rumble at idle, low to light throtle, and crusing at steady speed, but they willroarwhen you get on it. I believe they compare to SE 11's but havedeeper overall sound. Over allI really like the sound of them and my wife suprised me, she does also. She has told more people thanIhave how the newpipes sound.. we are in out late fifties and are pleased. In the morning when you leavejust go easy in the neighborhood..after all its still warming up anyway.....
Thanks everyone! Even with the stage 1 and SE 2's on my old 1200 I was always a bit concerned with the sound even going easy at say 6:30am. I ordered the Rush 2" from my local dealer so we'll see, hopefully they are just right if not Ill try the 1.75". How much are just the baffles?
I just put Rush 1.75s on my 07 Deluxe. Women were grabbing their children off the street. Cats and dogs were running in terror. Everyone was bolting their doors and windows....... Then I turned on the engine and things got interesting.
