Used to be an active HDForums member, but broke away for several years. Pics on my profile are old. Both the RK and FXR are now gone. Now that my wife rides her own bike, I sold off the touring bike and bought a 2000 Deuce from a widower. Bike had just over 2K miles when I bought it, and basically an 18 yr old, brand new bike. Now that I've bored u all, I need some help doing a make-over on this thing. New bars, exhaust, and tires, are in order.
I'm 5'7, and want to change out these damn stock drag bars, to a more sexy T-bar or ape. Anyone near my size find a bar they love, and looks good? Not planning on any touring, just short to medium trips. Wife has mini apes on her bike, and I really like the way they feel, but I am drawn to the T-bar look, on the Deuce.
As for exhaust, I like the V & H Big Radius 2-1 in chrome. Bike is factory, concord purple pearl, and I just don't see black accessories complementing the look.
I've also forgotten how to post pics on here, so I can't post any pics as of yet.
I think I figured it out.... Here's what it looked like the day I bought it.
Anyone looking for HD hard bags for a Deuce? Bags, bracket and hardware are available.
Welcome back JonnyD. I stopped and looked at a 2001 Deuce setting in a front yard not far from the house. I can assure you it looked nothing like yours. Wanted $6500.00.
Was also able to stuff a 200 Avon in back with a 20mm x 135 (2006 Night train part#) belt.No other mods.
Turned my pulley down on a lathe but you can get a spacer to run a narrow belt.
Belt just broke late last fall. 14000 miles but well over 10 years old. It was stock Harley part.
Went with aftermarket this time around.
Supposedly they have improved a lot since back then.
Nice score!
I have the same pipes on a 2000 D and they added a few ponies over the Bub Stubbies I had.
You will have NO trouble selling those bags. I made my own :-)

This is exactly how the bike was delivered from the Harley dealer, to the original owner. He only rode the bike I little over 2K miles, and then it sat. Original grips and tires are still on it. The SE mufflers are worth some $$, I should know from trying to find older ones to fit my 08 King, in the late 2000's. They sound good, just a bit muffled for my taste. Can't even hear my bike running next to my wife's.....

Ideas?
Back to handlebars. What looks good to one may look like crap to another but this is what I had on mine. I spent days trying to run the wires inside and gave up. I found braided steel sheathing on the web and ran the wires through that. I think you can get this style bar prewired now.
