Hey guys, I'm new to Harley Davidson so I don't know how these bikes are supposed to feel. I purchased a 2018 Softail Slim and I love it accept for one single thing. There appears to be a throttle delay between off and on throttle. It's not a improperly adjusted throttle, as it doesn't seem to matter how far back I pull it. The further back I roll it, the more jerk you get.
So I'm basically ticking the throttle open, delaying my roll on so the delay goes by and then rolling on. It's super annoying as someone coming from a sport bike. I don't know if this is a safety feature or what, but it makes my riding worse and MORE dangerous because I'm not used to it.
Is there any way to get rid of this delay? Will HD do it? Does it void my warranty?
Its new, I'd have your dealer check it out, the throttle is electric you might have a problem in the system. Ride safe, welcome to the Forum and Harley Davidson.
Sounds like I'd take it to the dealer being a new bike. Mine has always been smooth from the start. Although now it's tuned a lot more responsive. Enjoy your new ride and welcome aboard.
My 17 Slim doesn't have any delay that I can feel anyway. Maybe the 18s are different? That would be annoying for sure, I agree about going to the dealer.
Does it have the fly by wire throttle? A friend of mine had that problem with his road king and it was the fly by wire. On his bike the throttle would occasionally not respond at all too. The dealer fixed it up..
