Never mind I found it... I’m blind it’s on the bottom on the main HD page. Well that will be a fun conversation to say look you get reimbursed for this do we want to try this conversation again about fees?! Lol. I’m also a big proponent of not paying shipping charge. I get it they need to make money but come on some is just the cost of doing business. Especially if you are going to charge full MSRP and all tax, tag, title with nothing off at all and no assciories.

With HD sales down +16% now is a very good time to give them your price and move on if you have to. In my perspective it is a perfect time to start with almost any reasonable offer and remember you can always come up......

I know we're in a different market area but we just bought the wife a '18 Fatboy in 115th Anniversary colors-No dealer setup, no delivery fee, no doc fee......and discounted. $19k and TTL out the door. Oh, and matching leather Anniversary jacket for the wife for $200. I called local dealers that had this model and told them what I was willing to pay and actually had 2 dealers fighting for my $.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...Scott

I am just curious why everybody keeps telling him the cost of ABS when he clearly stated the bike he is looking at has no ABS.

BTW, my dealer with 6.35% tax sold one similar to the one you are looking at for $16,800 OTD during their demo days weekend. But I know they get pressured to move bikes during that weekend.

The saga continues. I told the dealer that they are reimbursed for prep and setup fees and he looked shocked. Digging in he is informing me they are only "refunded" $140 on softail. My response was what else is in the $1,500 for prep them it can't be labor because if so i've found myself a new job and becoming a tech. The $140 is probably labor costs. They don't have to "buy" anything for the bike maybe oils, gas, etc but $1,500. What do you all think? Move onto another dealer?

My dealer charged $0 for prep. I paid $500 below MSRP, plus sales tax and registration, and that's it. No freight, no prep. And that was back when the M8 Softails were brand new, and they only had one Fat Bob in the dealership. Now, granted, it took 'em three days to accept my offer; I made the offer and when they didn't accept it I gave 'em my number and told 'em to call me when they were ready to accept it. Then I went to another daeler and did exactly the same thing. And if the first one hadn't called me back, I would have gone to a third dealer and done exactly the same thing. But the first dealer accepted my offer, so I got it from them.

Good advise. They said the manager would probably accept 2k off MSRP but charge me everything else (i'm sure he will come back around 1,500). So probably right around the same ballpark then just the numbers are different. Which I told him i could careless what your books look like lol.

I was hoping to get atleast stage 1 on it and a jacket, is that to much to ask for rep their brand lol.

Well, see, that's another way I handled it differently than they'd like. They love to move numbers around, but I took all that power away. I don't care what fees they "have" to pay, which ones are mandatory, which ones are optional, which ones can be negotiated -- I mean, really, who cares?

The bike I wanted had an MSRP of $19,099. I had a trade--in that was fairly valued at $4100. So I said "Here's the deal. I will give you the title to this bike, and $15,000 cash. And that's it. I don't care how you work the numbers, the only number I'm interested in is the amount of cash I'm giving you. So you can give me a huge trade-in value and then charge more fees, or you can give me a lousy trade-in value and slash the price, or you can work it any way your books need to work it, I don't care. I don't want to hear about fees or delivery or prep or taxes, you work that out on your end. All I know is: I'm giving you $15k and the title to my old bike, and you're giving me the keys and title to the new bike, and that's the end of it."

In the end they swore they couldn't get it quite there, the best they could do was $15,500. So I said "let me take off the seat, luggage rack and sissy bar off my old bike and sell them separate, and you've got a deal." I sold the seat, luggage rack and sissy bar for $450. So, I guess they got me for an extra $50, but I didn't care, I was still happy with the deal.

I got the exact same bike with two tone for 16,000 out the door in Illinois. Tell them 16k or you’ll walk haha. Seriously depends on the dealership, sales manager, and how badly they need the sale. I came with a loan from my credit union which took APR out of the equation. Good luck
