i have an 04 standard that I purchased last year (great bike, extremely low miles and a good price). I like it but we have nowhere to put stuff when we go on trips and Ive always wanted a bagger. Love the tunes driving down the road and would like the extra protection to ride when its colder. Im wondering if anyone has a starting point to go from a remotely stock standard and make it look and function like a bagger. Heres a list of what Im thinking:
rider and and passenger foot boards with heel toe shifter
batwing front faring with radio (found them on eBay for a good price)
tourpak and saddlebags preferably hard so I can paint to match
not sure about exhaust, depending on bags I may be able to keep my pythons
engine guard and lowers (maybe on the lowers)
has as anyone else done this to a standard? Im not necessarily worried about changing the front wheel yet, I kinda like the skinny on the front. Honestly Im looking for suggestions and ideas on how to do this in a cost effective way, I cant really justify having two bikes right now and I dont have the space. Thanks everyone!
Ok friends, in my search I have found a killer deal on a leather tourpack off of a 2006 roadking. Is the quick detach hardware for the tourpack a different size than that of a softail? I have a quick detach sissy bar/luggage rack right now so the bike mounted hardware is already there, I just want to know if it will fit or not, and save myself quite a few dollars

the tour pak will fit but the mounting system / hardware is different. So, you can buy the tour pak, then buy the hardware / mounting system for the Softail and sell leftover hardware on eBay
