Question 2018 Fat Boy - stock handlebar dimensions?

Looking at (and scheming about) a 2018 FLFB (S is the 114?) Fat Boy. Coming from a 2004 V-Rod, I am doing as much research as possible before pulling the trigger. I know I’d be purchasing a $20,000 “starter kit.”

I did the same with a 2017 Fat Boy S, but glad I waited…

So, in addition to the usual pipes/air-cleaner/grips etc, it looks like I am going to need to modify the handlebar reach. I sat on a 114 and the bars (or more precisely, my arms) come up a bit short. I am looking to move away from the “clamshell” riding position of the V-Rod.

I’ve done more than a bit of searching, and cannot find anything on the dimensions of the stock handlebars. Hard to compare other bars and/or risers, without knowing what I’d be working with to start.

TIA for any specs, or suggestions on where to look.

Dave

2 1/2" straight risers
About 33 1/2" spread
About 11 1/2" pull back from front of bars to end of grips.
1.25" bars but 1" in grip area.

Thank you - looks like I'll start with the bar, and add a riser if needed.

And I must say, your Fat Boy looks amazing! Is that Bonneville Salt Pearl? It looks much more white than on the configurator.

You're very welcome, and thank you. And yes it is the BSP. And it is more white than it appears on the moco website. Sparkles nice in the sun too.

And, you’ve now given me something to think about other than Twisted Cherry! I looked at the higher res image and was blown away...

I'm not a patient person by nature. But I did originally agree to the idea of having the dealer bring in a Black Tempest 107 bike, because they didn't have anything on site that had not been ridden. Five days later when I got down there to make the deal I asked what they did have on hand at that time and they brought out a 107 Vivid Black, and this 114, both of which were not yet ready to be put on the showroom, with 0 miles on each. I've had a lot of black vehicles and while they are still my favorite they are harder to keep clean (I'm sort of fanatical in that way). And I knew that if I chose the 107 I'd always think I should have ponied up the additional funds for the 114. So I picked this BSP. Funny that in all my long years of buying vehicles I've never before had a white one. This is the second white one I've bought this year. My kids still josh me about it.

I bought my VRSCB V-Rod because of the black frame, then added more black (except for the engine, to which I added all of the “A” chrome). The red would be a departure for me, but I would have made the same decisions for the same reasons you made, right down to white vehicles! It must have stood out nicely. And yes, has to be a 114...

I will be keeping up with you and your mods as I continue to research.

I started a thread on a chromed out Fat Boy https://www.hdforums.com/forum/milwa...romed-out.html

I probably won't be doing any serious mods in the foreseeable future. I have it in mind to do some little things, such as axle nut covers and other small things but that will be about it. The guy in the video though made wholesale changes and his bike looks fantastic. It really shows the potential of the Fat Boy as a platform.

My VTX 1800 was black to begin with too, which works well with a black frame as you said. I too added a bunch of chrome and other accessories in the nine years I rode it, until it weighed close to 850lbs I'm sure. The Deuce I had in between that and this was a bantam weight in comparison. And even this Fat Boy is close to 150lbs lighter at the high end, and no less than 100lbs for sure.

I'm new here and trying to figure out how to get in on this conversation. Sorry in advance. What would the factory decisions be on an 04 fbst bars and risers?
