Does anyone have the exposed filter set up with an insert, but still has the screamin eagle filter and not the K&N???
Being that the screamin eagle filter has the red on the ends... I wonder if that stands out to the point that it looks horrible, and I would need to get the K&N so it looks decent.... any photo's of the screamin eagle with exposed with just an insert on it???
I can try and dig up an old picture for you, but I just switched to a K&N because the SE filter with blue rubber was butt-ugly on my bike. The black rubber and reddish filter looks a ton better on my nightrain. I have a custom made Maltese Cross insert only on my bike.
I just installed mine and the rubber is black, I'm thinking about doing this as well. Does anybody remember what color was the one that would desintegrate with time? is it the black one or the blue one?

yea... i got the crap blue one when i upgraded exhaust, etc.... and I got an insert that i am going to put on so i can do the exposed filter look.. was hoping to see how bad it looked with the blue one... since it's practically brand new... i was gonna leave it at least for a season.. before a plop another 50 down for another filter..... guess i'll just throw the insert on.. and if it looks hideous, i'll dish out 50 for the K&N....
