Just added the sundowner to my 06 Duece and love it. I ride about 100 miles to work and back and is very comfortable

Isnt the stock seat 2 piece on the Heritage? You mentioned you liked the stock seat so why not just send the pillion out and have it customized (add gell, etc)? Would be cheaper overall.

Thanks all for your answers. I do like the riders seat to a degree, I still get a sore butt after awhile but my passenger got one real quick so this is mostly for her. My son has a mustang on a VTX and I like it alot but really like the looks of the sundowner and its a little cheaper. I know a lot of VTX people use that ultimate and like it alot, even over the Mustang but they are pricey. Wish a person could just put one of each on and try it. Oh well, I will figure out something. Thanks again for your input!!

Wasnt crazy about its looks and I still want a solo. But I love the back support this seat gives me.

I have the Mustang vintage solo and standard width passenger seat. For me I love the seat. Decent back support, comfortable, and much better then the stock seat. 1000% better. I have no experience with the Sundowner. If I were to do it over again I would order the mustang solo with the backrest option. I think the backrest would be nice for long rides. Even without the backrest there is much more back support on the mustang then the factory seat. The rear seat on the mustang hangs over providing some back support.

For the passenger seat I got the standard size, 8". Its ok for short trips. The narrow one would be a joke and very uncomfortable for 2 up riding. If you want to make her happy I would go with the wide 14" passenger seat and a backrest for her. I plan on getting the wide one for long distance riding to make her happy.

A cheaper option is you could always have the stock seat redone. I tried that at first but wasn't happy with the result.

Firehousecustoms rider backrest doesn't work for me after all. Since I'm 6'2, I don't like how the backrest sits me further forward and there is no adjustment available. Nor does the Kuryakyn "Tombstone" bag with integrated backrest work for me - same reason - sits me too far forward even with just the 1" foam pad.

So I ordered the Mustang wide studded solo with rider backrest and wide rear studded pillion. Hopefully this will be the ticket - backrest supposedly allows 2" forward/rear adjustment as well as height adjustment. It better be for $489 for rider seat and $199 for rear. Had to order from factory to ensure I get it before heading to Gettysburg for the weekend!

You might want to also consider LePera. They make nice seats with lots of options. They have a program where they will send you your seat, uncovered, so you can try it on your bike for a couple of weeks. If you don't like it, you can return it. If you like it, you can mark up the foam and have them custom trim it to fit your and your passenger's butts perfectly. Then they cover it with whatever you order (vinyl, leather, custom etc.). It is a bit expensive and a bit of a hassle, but overall it is worth it to get a great seat that fits really well.

Mustang wide studded solo and wide studded pillion received and installed. Difference in comfort is night and day - and fit/finish is equal to my stock seats so all in all I'm happy with it.

Decided to order straight from the factory to get it in time for the weekend (no dealer within 50 miles of me had it in stock anyway) and to get the "Call us within 10-days, no questions asked return policy" when ordering from the factory. Since most dealers don't allow seat returns or to let you even try them on for "feel," I wanted to make sure it is what I wanted.

They aren't cheap @ $489 for the rider seat w/backrestand another $199 for the pillion, but...I won't be returning it. I'm sure my wife will be happy as well with the wide and comfortablepillion. She's only like 120 and 5'7 but the stock seat made her squirm after about 30 minutes.

I'm sure there are other quality seats out there, for less $$. But this works better for me than the Sundowner I tried out.
