Default Counter Balancer

I’m wondering if there is any type of upgrade to the Twin Cam 88B counter balancer? I have an 03 FXST. Initially it was thought that it was the crank bearing. I tore apart the engine and it was discovered that it was the counter balancer bearing by the gear. I’m just checking if there is any upgrade that I could do. I’m going through the entire engine and going to replace just about everything. I don’t want to reuse any parts. Cylinders look good, some carbon build up on SE pistons. Andrews cams show minimal wear. But I want to go to 100ci or 103cI. I don’t want to machine the cylinder bore. I’ll be looking at S&S kit. Thanks for the advice.

Sounds like a great project.....

FWIW... I've worked on my bikes for years, but have yet needed to split any cases. I always swore that if I needed to split cases, I'd send the bottom off to DarkHorse Crankworks. It certainly isn't the budget minded way to handle it, but you would have a bullet-proof a bottom end for your twin cam when they are finished...

Good luck with the rebuild....

Thanks for the info. Their prices are not that bad. If I go that rout I might just send the cases to R&R in Manchester NH. They do awesome work. This project will take me a while to complete. I’m just trying to get prices up now. Then budget my build. One thing that I like about dark horse is the blue printing of the bottom end.
