Curious as to whether those 3" forward controls on that breakout afforded any better ,same, or worse lean angle clearance.

Yep, I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I'm guessing it has to be better than stock but would love to know for sure. I'd like the extra leg room, but not at the expense of lean angle. It's bad enough already.

FWIW, after seeing this thread I dug around a little and there was another thread on this topic that mentioned Arlen Ness extensions. They were 179 on amazon so I picked up a set. At first glance, they appear to be clunkier looking than the HD ones, but we'll see once they are on.

I'll snap a few pic's post installation.

Here's the link-

Lean angle is the same. The pegs are the same height off the ground, just 3 inches farther forward.

Default Ness forward control extensions

I installed the Alen ness extensions this weekend. They bolt right into the stock peg mounts in yellow below. I consider this a mild PIA installation only because I needed to remove the rear wheel. In my book anytime that comes off immediately bumps the job to mild PIA and above. Anyway, fairly straight forward installation.

Product quality is good, the shift rod is as ugly as the stock and it uses the stock ends.

As one poster mentioned, there is no increase in ground clearance at all. Everything still scrapes just like stock. For me the ride is more comfortable (6'4") so no complaints. I think it's a good alternative to the HD parts at 1/2 the cost.

2018 Breakout 114

These are my big&tall category mods done with HD parts:
- 3" forward controls
- tall boy seat
- 16" apes
- screamin' eagle stage II, torque
- sometimes add 19" wind splitter super sport windshield

awesome bags are from ends cuoio (I didn't want to extend the tail lights & license plate)

I chose Breakout because it looked best suited to adapting to a tall rider with parts available from the factory. I'm comfortable and I like it.

Default TALL RIDERS 2018 breakout

I’m in the process of getting the extended forward controls added, luckily it was within the 60 days of my bike purchase so it’ll be added in to the bikes warranty. However now I need a seat! The H-D TALLBOY isn’t my favorite. And it sits you up which doesn’t help matters. I’ve done some research and saddleman is about to come out with a solo seat that sits you lower and further back, and le pera also is coming out with one or two as well.

Does anyone know of a solo seat or a shop (hopefully in tx just a hope) that builds custom seats for the 2018?

Also, since the pegs changed on the 2018’s I want some new pegs and can’t find ANY!? Anyone know where to find any?
