Hello everybody, new member here. I have a 2007 Softail Night Train and I was wondering what a nice camshaft to use for a nice little lopey sound to it. I keep reading everybody likes the Easy Start cams from S&S but I don’t really hear a difference with them, starting yes. Just not a nice little lope like I want. Thanks!
Welcome to the forum. I would recommend doing a search in the engine and mechanical section of the forum. They have tons of threads discussing cams. You will learn a lot. Good luck.
Regarding there will never be a lope to an EFI, I have heard plenty of EFI bikes with a nice little lope to it on the YouTube and at bike meets I’ve attended in the past. I have heard Reaper cams and they seemed to have a solid price point, but not sure how the quality is for them.
You can buy a manual idle control and idle it down a little if you want it to sound like a carb'd bike, stock idle with FI is around 1,000 rpm, they sound much better at 900.
Here is a thread I did a long time ago with purchase link and video.
it's a lot cheaper than a cam change if sound is what you are after.
I wouldn't select a cam based on how it lopes. I would get what performs.
I have the SS Easy Start cams in my Fat Boy, work good, in my opinion and limited experience.
The Power Vision controller can easily adjust your idle on the fly along with many other settings. Just be careful with it, the plastic case can break and you'll be **** out of luck, that I do know.
