For my Heritage do I need to buy an entirely new windshield or is there an adapter that will make the stock windshield quick release?

The sock windshield is quick release. There are two wire loops that you just lift slightly and pull the winshield forward, it will come right off.

 

You didn't say what year Heritage you have, and I'm not sure when Harley started fitting Heritages with quick release windshields. If you have a fixed windshield and want a qiuck release windshield you need to purchase a entire windshield plus the two mounting brackets.If you already have a quick release windshield then follow the directions from the other post.

 

Lift the wire loop to get on/off ????????

on mine the looped wire has to be forced down and under the bracket .... Maybe I have just worked out from your post that perhaps the factory has installed the springs **** about....damn
