Default Softail service manual

Hey guys!

Just purchased a 2003 softail service manuel.

Is it normal that there is no part #'s in this manuel? For example on the figure diagrams a screw will be marked simply SCREW with no part # next to it!
Thxs

I`v never seen part numbers in any service manual (not just motorcycle), that is what the parts manual is for...

Use this. Just select your bike and you'll find what you need.

Because as someone mentioned, there is a Parts Manual specifically made for all the exploded diagrams, with part numbers for the bike......

I've always bought a Harley Service Manual for my bikes. For my more recent/current bikes, I buy all three Harley manuals; Service Manual, Parts Manual, and Electrical Diagnostic Manual.

I use the service manual the most, followed closely by the parts manual. I am a visual person and the exploded diagrams are like gold to me. Plus, it's always easier to order form online vendors with a part number. If you happen to go to a dealer parts counter and give them the part number for what you need, it saves a lot of BS from the parts counter and even the greenest, least knowledgeable parts guy can help you ... I use the Electrical Diagnostic Manuals the least, but when I need them, they are worth every penny spent....

At the back of the Owners Manual, there is usually a page that has the part numbers for all three Harley manuals for that specific Year and Model. You can use those part numbers to track down older manuals on eBay, or order them from an online HD parts vendor. Always check the HD vendor(s) first.... They have some pretty old manuals still available as new, and can be cheaper than many used ones on eBay...

When I sell a bike, I always keep the Service/Parts/Electrical Manuals.... They make for a good reference library...
