Keep thinking that the bike won't start properly, but when the kickstand is down and the bike is in gear, it won't start (Eventhough I have the clutch in).
Keep forgetting to put the stand up,.... dammit brain!
damn technology thinking it's smarter than us!
as I type this im trying to recall if my bike has that issue. ill have to google it.... wait... ****....
I'm glad my 16 Heritage doesn't do this. (Nor my wife's 2013 Sportster.)
In the morning, I put my bike in neutral and push it out of the gate. I put it on the stand, and while still in neutral, start it up to let it run while I close the gate, put on my gloves and helmet. Then I hop on, stand it up, kick back the stand, and power to the end of the driveway. Then it likes to run at a higher RPM for a few seconds, before I take off into the street.
Could be worse, you could of got off the bike and forgotten to put the stand down, I did that once luckily the bike was near to a wall , which it just leaned against so luckily no damage

That's what I was going to say too. With a safety switch in place I'd rather forget to put it up than to put it down. Without a safety switch in place....one time we saw a guy riding on the freeway with his kickstand down. We may have saved his life by letting him know about it.

Yeah, done that too!!! :-D Luckily only on a rental streetglide... bitch to get it up again.
A few years back, a guy on a Goldwing flew by me with the stand fully out. I cringed and tried to catch up with no luck. To this day I have no clue if he went down or not.
I really dislike nanny devices..... sometimes you just need to learn what ot do, and what not to do.... and then develop good riding habits...
I've been riding Harleys exclusively for 42 years. I currently have 3 HDs in my garage... I've never ridden away with the kickstand down... that includes a lot of riding in the late 70's when laws/attitudes were different (wink, wink)...
None of my bikes have the kickstand switch. I don't need it, don't want it, and if I had it.... I would disable it.
