Engine Rebuilder?
Mornig all,
Some time ago I was told about a guy in Ithica NY (I think) who was first class when it came to engine re builds and upgrades but for the life of me cannot remember who he was. Quite a few guys here have had work done by him.
I am hoping that someone can tell me who this guy is so I can get my bike to him for some engine "up grades".

So, before I go up there might get some suggestions from you guys as to what to do. I have a 97 Softail Deluxe and love it; HOWEVER, anything over 60 MPH and it feels like it's shaking itself apart AND sounds as though it is going to explode all over the place! It is neither a good feeling or makes for an enjoyable ride on a 4 lane when everyone else is travelling at 70 - 75 plus. The bike has only done about 48000 mile and, as far as I am aware, is fully stock.
Bottom line - I want to be able to sit at 70 on a 4 lane "comfortably" and have the bike run and sound smooth.
Any recommendations for "fixing this issue" and has anyone else experienced it and remedied the problem?

Just having engine work done to increase HP wont help out with your complaint of too high RPM at highway speeds. more HP will only get you to those speeds faster but that engine will still be turning at the same RPM unless you do something to change gearing.
You have a couple options
1. Change the sprockets to make the final gearing higher, this will lower your RPM at any gien speed but also take away from your acceleration. Probably the least expensive option
2. Change to a 6 sp with OD transmission, this will give you the lower RPM at speed and you wont loose the current power in acceleration with your current engine. More expensive.
3. Change to the 6 sp transmission and add at least a stage 2 95ci kit you will get more Hp/Tq and lower the RPM for better highway cruising.
