Default Softale Starter Replacement

I have an 07 FLSTC and it's due for a new starter. Has anyone ever tried the R&R by removing the battery box and pulling the starter out through the oil tank opening? I'm told there's just enough room if you wiggle the starter around just right, but I have some doubts. I've got the extensions to get to the bolts and of course the battery cable is easily accessed with the battery box out.

What say you?
