I would like to get rid of my brake light all together and use my rear turn signals as brake lights. On the HD website they have part# 69462-06A (Auxiliary running light/brake light/ turn signal conversion kit) which says it is easy plug in device. My question is, will it still work without my brake light? or do I have to keep my brake light installed? Any one do this or have any ideas?
Thanks alot!
Don't see why not, there isn't any 'requirement (electrical) to have the tail light in the circuit. Worst case is that you need to substitute a resistor for the light to make it 'think' the bulb is still there.
But I doubt its going to need anything because thenew Sportster Nightster uses that same kind of a setup.
Just make sure you insulate any open plugs or circuit ends sither by cutting them off and taping, shrink wrapping them up, or filling open sockets with dielectric grease.
