03 Softail Standard bar swap...
Hi All,
I just bought a 2003 Softail Standard. It has drag bar style handlebars on it. I bought an 03 factory bar on ebay and want to change it out with this-is there any way of telling if the riser currently on my bike is factory or not? Anything else to be aware of when doing a bar swap?
Thank you for any input.

First wlecome to the Softail club and HDF, you'll find that we're not all nut's here, just crazy.
Make sure that the lines and cables have not been changed or at least are long enough to reach with the 'stock' bars. Many if not most people often change them when they change bars and they may not be long enough to reach properly now. The other thing is to be very careful taking the switches and throttle grip apart. There are a few smaller pieces that can easily fall out and get lost on you if you don't watch for them. I would suggest you get hold of the HD Service manual for your year bike to make sure you know where everything goes if something does come apart in your hands or you slip and drop thengs.
Another trick I foundis to put a nice big white towel on the floor under where your working so if a small part does fall its easy to see and won't go bouncing off to never never land on you.
Good Luckand enjoy your visits here. [sm=biker2.gif]
