The seat height of the deluxe is the lowest of all the softails. If you're tall it may be a huge difference. I can only compare my deluxe to an older 94 or 95 fatboy that I rode once. It would be like comparing apples and oranges to an 07'. Just my take. I like the look of the deluxe all day. The FB is nice, but i just don't like the front fender or the solid rims. I'm sure you'll get some more feedback.

I've seen women riding road kings, so if you're comfortable on the FB and like it better...go with it. My advice would be to try out both. That's the only sure way to know what you really want.

I am a bit biased though, as I own a deluxe.

If your 5'6" definetely go with the Deluxe. Only complaint I ever heard was if you were too tall. If you are under 6 feet tall you will love it. I am 5' 10" and I love mine but even I find I am a bit too tall.
5'6" = perfect fit IMHO.

Utz,
I had wanted a FatBoy before the Deluxes came out but they were a bit of a stretch for me as far as controls. I saw the Deluxe at a show and checked it out. I made the decision right then and there that if I got a HD, it would be the Deluxe. I got it and love it. I'm only 5'6" as well and the bike fits me perfectly. The low seat helps with parking lot manuevers and the controls are all in easy reach. I checked out my buddies Road King too. I know they can be lowered, but stock, it was just a little too tall for me. I don't think you would be disappointed in the Deluxe.
