I recently purchased a set of LED turn signals on Amazon, not paying attention to the fitting. The front are amber/white 1157 (dual filament) sockets. The rear are red and don't fit my 1156 (single filament) sockets. I will likley just buy new LEDs that fit the single filament socket, but the red ring running light would look cool with the LED taillight I already run.
Either way, I'm out what I paid for the LEDs for the rear. What I'm wondering is, is there a way to convert the 1156 to 1157 and run the dual filament LEDs?
A did a search but only found people selling the things, not converting.
Maybe a link to what you have might help?
For example if the LED unit has a pig tail to an 1157 type of connector then maybe a cut and splice of pig tail on LED unit to convert to 1156.
Turning three wires into two.
Keep in mind that you will then be running LED at maximum intensity...basically as if both filaments on a regular light were ON.

There are modules that will allow for your rear single filament (1156) bulbs to function like dual filament bulbs... they're usually referred to as Run/turn/brake modules.... I've used the Custom Dynamics module and years ago bought a Kuryakyn module that's still working today...
But to physically change your rear light sockets from single to dual filament, just because you mistakenly bought the wrong bulbs, is what we use to call "mickey mouse"... You're just asking for issues and screwing up the OEM wiring because you bought the wrong bulbs.... I'd recommend against it...
Thank you for the responses. It isn't the first time I've been over-zealous and purchased without paying attention. So... I have a pair of red LED 1157 lights if anyone needs them. I'll order some new ones for the 1156.

Put them on ebay. You'll get a few bucks for them.
