Default The Grey Ghost Restoration Thread

Wondering if we could combine our energy and knowledge in to one place? I'd love to know if if any one has had restoration issues and how they resolved them. I have query on paint color on another thread but still waiting on that.
It's common knowledge the Grey color and 7 Yellow rings is what the bike is all about. Without getting in to the story or theory behind the yellow rings I want to know what guys have done to preserve them.
I have a project on my hands with my newly acquired bike.
The good: 2 Yellow rings on the Gas tanks
2 Yellow rings on the Rocker covers
The Bad Yellow ring on the Key Switch on the dash panel. Looks like a silverfoil backed type decal? anyway its missing
Primary inspection cover, Yellow Ok but the rest of the cover is pitted? Don t know how this should've looked from the factory? Chrome or brushed finish,? Please advise
Cam Cover, same as above

Thoughts, ideas all and any input/suggestions welcome

Wow.... I didn't realize there was another 'Grey Ghost".......

I've been riding Harleys since 1978 and never knew about that one.. I'm gonna need to read about that...
