I just had the dealership tell that my bike was running lean because of the rush pipesthat are on it. The service tech pointed out the soot in the exhaust pipe and the discoloration on the pipes from the engine. The want to install 2 parts (29440-99D SEA/C Kit Carb TC88 and 32640-97B/DT EVO ST1 Digital Tech) and put it on the dyno to re-map it.
First, I know the first part is the Screaming Eagle air cleaner. But what is the EVO ST1 Digital Tech? Second is the service tech correct in his diagnosis? This is a 07 FLSTC with 812 miles on it.
Thanks for the assistance all…

The bluing (discoloration) of the pipes is normal. All pipes discolor when they get hot. The soot is normal too in my opinion. I think if you put your finger into most exhaust pipes and your going to get some black soot.
However, if you added pipes without remapping your ECM, then you may be running lean. These bikes run lean from the factory.
2 outta 3 dealers that I discussed this with told me I didn't need a remap with Rush Slip-ons as long as I didn't add a new Air Cleaner. I almost bought the Rush Slip-ons before I saw a Deluxe with True Duals.

The 2 are right. No change in air filter means no change in air flow into the engine. If you're running lean, it's because they're set that way from the factory.
