Camshaft
Hello
Let me know some info about timing gear in HD
My bike it's softail TC 96' 2007 odometer 41000mph
When I have to check camshafts?
What are symptoms destructions?
I ride with mufflers V&H and is hard to hear sometimes wrong noise from camshaft.
Did you changed it?

The 2007 96" engines have the hydraulic cam tensioners.... there is no NEED to go into the cam chest, unlike the 88" TC engines with the spring cam tensioners that needed to be inspected around 20-30K miles. On the 96" bikes, no need to inspect the cam chest, tensioners, timing gear... unless you develop a problem...
Having said that, you have the "OK" Harley "B" series lifters, but still have the INA brand inner cam bearings. If you should go into the cam chest for any reason, like a cam upgrade... switch the inner cam bearings to Koyo-Torrington style inner cam bearings and put in good lifters just for peace of mind.....
For now, just ride and enjoy the bike....
What about the bearing?
The 96" engines have the good hydraulic tensioners, but OEM still uses the INA brand, inner cam bearings. There have been failures of these bearings, which is not cheap to repair, but there have NOT been enough failures that I would open up the cam chest, just to replace the OEM bearings. If I were to go into the cam chest for any reason, while in there, I would replace the OEM INA Cage-style Bearings with the better Koyo-Torrington needle bearings..
How long can I ride on original?
Many of the OEM INA bearings have gone well over 50K miles... They are just a poorer design than the Koyo-Torrington, needle bearings, and worth changing out if you go into the cam chest
I'm not going to modificate camshaft in the near future. I have to replacement lifters too?
In a word, No. You have the "B" series lifters, which are much better than the "C" series lifters the MoCo went to as OEM around 2010. If you have no issues that would lead you to believe you have a lifter going bad, just ride the bike and enjoy...
Only lifters with bearing ?
I would leave everything as is and just enjoy the bike.... IF, and that's a big IF, you should develop any kind of lifter issue in the future, then while you are changing lifters (replace the lifters with good aftermarket lifters instead of HD), then also change out the inner cam bearings.
I answered your specific questions in the your above quote...
As I mentioned in my previous post.... If you had an 88" engine, I would say it's necessary to go into the cam chest to replace the spring cam tensioners, and then also replace the inner cam bearings and lifters while you are in there....
You have the 96" engine with better cam chest components... ride it with confidence...
The rest of my info was for IF you should go into the cam chest for a repair or upgrade...
Enjoy...
