Default Forks and Lower swap????

Sorry, I looked all over before posting but none were specific to my problem.
I own a 02 FXST, the bike was crashed from the front. Whole front end was wrecked. I purchased some 07-17 HARLEY FLSTC HERITAGE SOFTAIL FRONT FORKS. Replaced the triple trees. I found a stock 21" 40 spoke wheel and planned on using the stock axle and spacers. When I went to install the axle, it seems to be the correct lenght and tightens correctly on the left fork. On the right for with the pincher bolts the diameter is bigger and the axle is loose on that side. Is this an easy fix? Can I just get the bigger axle and bearings or do I need a whole different wheel?
edit: Would I be able to swap out my FXST lowers onto the FLSTC forks? They are both 41mm.

You got the wrong year axel. Get the axel that fits the fork lower year. If it doesn't fit the wheel bearings then you have to convert the bearings

The lowers should also swap if they are compatible years. Most lowers only differ on mounting tangs for brakes and fenders. 2000-2010 is what I’m talking about like years.

Ok, the fork mounting holes for the fender and brake caliper are the same. They are both 41mm. The FL Does that seem like the correct way to go? I already ordered the fork rebuild kit. The FLSCT forks are about and inch or two shorter than the the FXST forks. Would that matter at all when changing out the lowers? Thank you for your response.

Iv'e been reading that 25mm bearings are narrower than the 3/4. Those are all old post. Has this been done safely already? Can I literally just change out the bearings and get the 25mm axle?

You should be able to find the correct bearings at any NAPA. Again lowers should work.
25 mm = 0.984252

Sell the rim, get a new rim with 1" hub bearings and a new axle.
