Default the same question, different evidence?

Hi All,

i might be the fool here but having to rely on the internet as your only source of visualising makes it difficult and i have many many purchases that didnt work out..i hope this isnt another because it cost me $300+.

it is supposed to be the springer classic backrest - hd part number 51792-01.

https://talonbillets.com/products/ha...nt=25484700425

now, i had a deluxe, and now a fatboy, and im trying to find a low profile backrest, and heard that the springer one can be 'adapted' to fit.

So far im struggling to see how this would fit the deluxe or the FB. Has anyone out there done this mod?, any pictures or tips on getting it to fit?

it looks to me to require some spacers, links, or perhaps i need a different seat?..i havent yet seen anyone document the modification, so wondering if it really is possible, and maybe this part i have is not what it is supposed to be...hmmm..

any help would be great..
cheers.

It's for a solo seat
It can mount to the fender or seat bottom, does your seat have threaded holes?
It wraps around and also bolts to the frame if you have the frame seat mount holes.

Where did you hear that it could be made to fit? That same source didn't provide the adaptation?

Gauging from pics, it looks like it could bolt into the fender struts and in the middle where the seat mounts. Hard to say without trying it. Simply put, there are lots of ways to make things fit be it direct bolt on or modifying the original part. It’s fairly inexpensive and worse case you opt to resell it later.

While the direct fit parts list is a good starting point, most frames And fenders are too close to not give it a try. Hell I took a gamble on pipes for my breakout that were technically made for 2011 and sooner flst. Fit perfectly workout modification or changing the mounting bracket.

that's so true, which is why I laid out $300 on them. and the frame mounts sit too far forward (2"), the rail interferes with the seat.

so if it is do-able, itd be good to know how.
maybe it requires the Springer seat? but I've seen a deluxe with it on.

never quite enough detail on how it can be adapted. it looks like it attached to the Springer seat.

I'm on a mission to find a comfortable seat. without ruining the lines.. low profile backrest or deep bucket..but its expensive to get it wrong..

It does fit the Deluxe seat. I installed it on mine. You have to take the one on the seat off and that springer rail fits instead of the Deluxe rail. It bolts onto the seat
