I just bought some Led signal mirrors for my Fatboy.
Can anyone help me with this mod?
Mounting the mirrors is crazy easy but wiring them will be a challenge?
They have one wire (+) that comes out of the bottom of the mirror and mounting them will provide the (-) connection.
Is there a resistor that I can use inline to make these work?
My previous signals were basic 12 volt bulbs and worked good.
These when hooked up, just light up really dim and don't flash.
Thank you,
Spiros
sounds like you don't a good ground. take VOM and check voltage on positive side and check resistance on the frame of the mirrors. I have the Rivco led mirrors but they have 2 wires. Take a jumper cable of some kind and ground the frame of the mirror to a good chassis ground and see if it get brighter.
LED's don't draw enough current for the flash to work. When I installed my LED tailights, I had to install a resistor. Took several trips to Fry's until I got it right. Trial and error..
Did you put LED's in the rear too? Reason I ask is that the TSM needs to see a certain amount
of resistance in order to work. Without said resistance, it thinks you have a bulb out.
You can add a Load Resistor to the rear wiring under the seat. 1 LR for each side.
My tail lights are basically stock and the front signals were regular bulbs too.
I thought just connecting the led's would work just fine?
Most likely I think I have to install a resistor?
Sorry I didn't get back sooner. If your stock bulbs are not LED then no Load equaliser is needed.
You must have connected them to the wrong signal lead.
