Default Heated Grips

Installing Harley heated grips on my wife's 2016 Softail Slim S. Based on your experiences, any tips/tricks to make the install go smooth?

Thanks in advance for sharing.

use a heavy thread or ball chain as a guide. Attach it to the wires already through. That way when you pull it all back through, it’s less work from the start.

When I was pulling wires through my bars I broke both a pull string and a ball chain. An electrician friend of mine suggested getting a pice or 12 ga stranded wire, stripping back about 6 or so inches of it, splitting the strands in half, making a looping wrapping each side around. Then you loop that around the wire you are trying to pull. It's kind of hard to picture but I will take a photo later and post it. This worked great for me and it's how I will always do it from now on. That and some wire pulling lube

Bead of silicon sealant around the open end of the grips. water in the grip with the temp switch on it will short out the grips!

Don't as me how I know!!!!!
BTW, Harley would not cover this under warranty. My dealer(a good one) replaced them on his dime.

Reading through the Harley directions, just read I need to order an additional Electrical Connection Upgrade kit Part Number 72673-11, picking that up Monday.

The instructions also say to locate “heated grip interconnect [206]”, any idea where I would find that on the bike?

If I'm not mistaken , the interconnect is the black connector on the TGS . When you pull the TGS out of the bar , you will see the connector that the new heated grip connector will attach too .
