Default Softail handle bars

I have a 04 Softail Standard and was consider putting 12” or 14” apes on with a 1” or 2” riser on it. I would like the pull back to be no more then what T bars are. Also, would I need to change the factory cables to achieve the raised high? I am open to most bar to achieve the height of the bars. Everyone’s opinions Are welcome and if you have pictures of your set up place share. Thanks in advance.

When it comes to bars I always recommend wild 1 chubbys. Best bars out there in my opinion and they should have all the info you need. Safe travels!

These are 14in. with 3 1/2 in. risers , needed to get longer front brake cable and reroute my clutch cable .

Personally I think apes with tall rises look wrong. I don’t like t bars either. I had stock 10” on 4” risers. To use 12” I had to lower risers. To go to 14” I had to change cables again and extend wiring.

18" on stock riser and clamp. Had to change clutch cable, brake line and wiring but it's worth it.

I found with the 14" the leverage was to much with the stock clamp and the bars could rotate so I had to install a clamp with set screws for apes.

I went with Wild1 Chubby 12.5" bars on my 2005 Softail Deluxe (see video embedded in my signature). Used stock Heritage riser, think 1".

My bars have indents in the clamping area and that's been just fine so far. I've pinned tall apes in the past and if these start slipping I'll do the same.

I didn't want to pin because I did internal wiring and incase I needed to roll the bars back.

16" Wild One Chubbys with 3" risers. All day comfort for me.
