It's a great model/year .... The red accessories are disgusting, probably why it has so few miles... he was embarrassed to ride it....
If he has the OEM parts, it could be a good find. Still, it's a 30 year old bike with very little use... that can kill a bike... it will need work no matter what...
If it passes a vigorous inspection, I'd give up to $4000 for it.... If it shows signs of NOT aging well, I wouldn't go over $3000
Let us know what happens...

Going to need a ton of maintenance. Battery, brake lines, fluids, tires, and who knows what else. Then theres all the horrid red after the fact add-ons. Hopefully the seller is realistic about that. Personally Id try for 3k and stick to my guns at 3500.
I may be on the high side here but I would say the most I would pay if they have the factory tins is $5000.00. You have to realize the HD factory springer is worth about $3000.00 to 3500.00 on its own. The motor and tranny are worth about $2000.00 minimum all day here if they run. I buy and rebuild bikes all the time and I wouldn't hesitate to go 5 grand on that bike. I would of course get it as cheap as I could. That would be a great bike to ride, especially with those low miles, that bike has a lot of life left in it.
Of course, the red would have to go. But I have enough parts in my garage to do most of the upgrades fairly cheap. Good luck on your purchase.
