sorry if this has allready been answered before but i want to fit the script rear axle covers 41661-06 to my custom and i have saddlebags it says they dont fit together but i cant see any reason why not does anyone have them with bags or could measure the thickness of them for me thanks
I had the same concern...............not sure why they wouldn't fit. Mine are fine with and w/out the bags on. I tried them on at the HD dealer ot make sure with the Parst Mgr and all went well before I bought them.
I asked around about this too (I have a Fatboy though) and what everyone told me the concern was is that when you hit a big bump, the swingarm moves up moving the axle cover into the bottm of the bags...
I have one on mine and it doesnt hit my bags but I have really small bags...
What he said, just in case when the swing arm moves it hits the covers on the bag bracket and might scratch them.
To cover their ***.
Mine doesn't touch and I've hit some pot holes.
My saddlebags have rubbed places through the chrome on my axle covers. I couldn't figure out what happened to my chrome, because when the bike is on the kickstand, the bags aren't even close to the axle covers. It's gotta be from hitting bumps with the bike loaded down...
If I said it once I will say it again .............dont rely on what that parts catalouge says 99.9% of the time it's wrong! Use your head and common sense. If your bags are 4-5 inches above your axel covers and your shock travel doesn't exceed 3-4 inches well what does that tell you? That was just a fictitious example.
