Went for a long ride in my new(to me) 96 Fatboy yesterday. I’m riding home having ridden about100 miles and the bike just quits. At 80 mph. Still Won’t crank. I’ve had it two weeks. Here we go.
Welcome to the forum from central Texas.
Look at the bright side. You had it two weeks before you encountered a SNAFU. Some people aren't even that lucky. Don't forget to update your thread to let us know what the problem was.
I’m gonna ask a dumb question here. Do you have to fill up both sides of the tank? I’ve only ridden on new Harleys where only the right cap was functional

Not a dumb question , yes both right and left side caps are for filling . There is a bleeder line that runs from one side to the other underneath . If I'm not mistaken the cap on the left is a reverse thread .

2 tanks with a 1/4" crossover vent. Left side rotates counterclockwise to open. Fill both.
Sounds like you ran out of gas.
I didn’t know that. Neither did the salesman. He told me just the right side was used and he took it to the gas station thrill it up. He must have only filled the right tank
ive got a lot to learn. Thanks for all the responses and the welcome.
Enjoy your new ride and don't ride worrying about things that may, could and will break because in this instance they all do that, break that is. Hope you get many miles of smiles. Those Evo's are one nice motor.
Only filled the right tank. So did the salesman that said he’d fill the bike up while I did the deal. So, I ran out of gas. Even the service tech didn’t realize you had to fill both sides
i learned several lessons from this.
mainly, I’ve got a lot to learn
