Hi all ! I'm sure this has been beaten to death, but here goes. I have a 07 FXSTC with SE II slip-onsand no other mods. The bike runs good but my friends (stock) 06 super glide 88 incher blows by me like I'm setting still. So is the stage1 download with the Arlen Ness bigsucker worth it. I'm not planning any other mods for sometime as I like the way the bike sounds, it just lacks a little grunt.
You can go with the stage 1 and an air cleaner, but have youconsidered a PCIII, SERT, or Thundermax for a fuel management system? I have the PCIII from Fuel Motto and the K&N high flow air cleaner and it maked a huge difference in my bike.
Good Luck,
Thanks for the fast reply. Yes I have, but I here mixed results and I really don't want to run a piggyback setup. Is the stage one upgrade that much better than stock?
the reviews here are mixed on the download. i asked about it a few weeks ago. in the end, i decided to do it on my 05 deluxe.my bike likes the new setting and runs pretty well now. it did not become a rocket ship with it nor did i expect it to become one but there is more grunt and it breathes better once the prms pick up. all in all i'd do it again.
I did the stage 1 "race" download when I did my pipes and a/c. Improvement was noticable. I then installed the PCIII and after finding/altering the map, Im really happy. Runs great and getting about 42mpg. Pulls like a monster. However, I like the fact that I have the download in place just as a safety measure if the PCIII ever craps out on me somewhere.
Good luck with your decision.
a benefit that most people seem to forget with a stage 1download is that you gain an increase in rpm, from stock 5600rpm, to 6200rpm
now add the tunability of an efi controller like a power commander and you nowhave the flexibility tocustom tune your engine .a pcIII
alone cannot override the factory rpm settings in the ecm.only with a stage 1 download do you get that added feature.and in my opinion, the only worthwhile feature .
