Lets see if i understand.
You have a 2000 softail.
You just Just bought it after motorcycle sat for 8 years.
No report of mileage on motorcycle.
No report regarding any changes from stock on motorcycle.
No report regarding general condition of motorcycle.
The console lights up..What do you consider console? What lights?
The odometer gives a reading...What does that mean to you? Does that mean it shows a certain number of miles ridden?
No speedo ? What does that mean to you? Does it mean that speedometer needle does not move in relation to speed of motorcycle?
Odometer doesn't roll? What does that mean to you? Does it mean that LCD odometer reading does not accumulate mileage?
If i was able to decipher correctly then maybe your vehicle speed sensor has some metal debris on it and is unable to transmit a correct mileage pulse to speedometer..
Some folks would remove sensor and then clean it as a first attempt.
Below is a parts finder that would help you to isolate part. Rather simple to remove and check.
Best of luck.

Sorry, I was going for a shorter post.
odometer reads 57k, it is LCD display,, and does not change during travel. Console being gauge cluster, lights up meaning odometer is visible under power, warning lights, blinkers, and speedo back light light up, stock equipment, bike is in good condition no mods, speedometer reacts to key on, but does not move while moving. The sensor is what I wasn't sure of, thank you.

Based on information that was confirmed.
Review the speed sensor.
Might be surprised to see the amount of metal filings attached to sensor that are blocking signal pulse.
If possible please return with findings.

Default Update: Solved

Thank you everyone. Ordered a new one from Amazon, didn't fit ugh. Called local shop and they had one, installed and now I have speedometer AND odometer. Works as it should put 100 miles yesterday. Saddly, pretty sure the cam tensioners let loose when I got home.... new research commencing

Dude, not trying to be negative but that is a lot of debris on the speed sensor and should indicate that that bike needs a solid look through before riding. Not sure what you mean by cam tensioners “let go” when you got home, cuz that’s not how that works. They wear down and throw metal debris all over the place.
