for a softail breakout 2016 one of the teeth on 37816-11 has broke as you can clearly see in the pic attached...where can i get a n OEM replacement?
and what other performance options i can use since i have to replace this part? can i replace it alone ? or do i have to replace the whole assembly?
I checked JPCycles and i couldnt find an OEM replacement!
That's the ring gear with the broken tooth, which is part of the clutch basket assembly.... That gear is used by the starter to spin the engine for starting...
I've never dealt with a missing tooth on the ring gear. How did you find it? What were the starting symptoms? You may want to check your starter clutch assembly for proper operation.. Unless the ring gear was just defective, there could be something amiss in the starter clutch assembly that caused it to engage the ring gear improperly and damaged that tooth...
In any case, for need or want, the clutch basket and/or ring gear can be replaced.
I just noticed that the online parts finder doesn't show a part # for just the clutch basket/ring gear assembly. In the parts pic below, it is the piece between the #19 bearing and #10 clutch hub... strange... I would think it is available without all the other clutch components through the MoCo... Maybe ask a local dealer for the part number and availabilty..
There are numerous high performance clutch baskets and ring gears available through the after market... most (if not all) are better (stronger) than OEM and probably more $$$ than OEM...
The OEM ring gear is attached to the clutch basket with rivets. On some aftermarket performance parts, the ring gear is bolted to the clutch basket. You could drill out the rivets and attach a new ring gear (aftermarket), but it would seem silly to me, to go to all that trouble for an OEM clutch basket...
I would probably just get a good aftermarket clutch basket/ring gear combo, with a new bearing, then just reuse the other OEM components... Unless of course, you have some big engine mods... Then it may be time to beef up the clutch too..
My go to clutch basket replacement is an Evolution Industries unit.... They are far superior to OEM, and overkill for OEM power, or just minor mods.... Additionally they are more expensive than the entire OEM clutch assembly from the MoCo... But they are bulletproof and works of art...
You could search for clutch baskets / ring gears from other aftermarket sources that may be a better match both financially and in strength if your engine is OEM or close to it in power...
Good luck with the repair...

I'm not sure on the twin cam ring gear, but on my 94 softail evo I was able to use a mill and milled off the studs and I may have drilled the holes bigger and replaced the ring gear with a compufire unit that bolted on. Worked as good as new!
