Hi everyone (first post here),
Forgive me if this is in the incorrect area, I am quite new to these forums. Anyways, my dad recently purchased a 1995 Harley Softail and was told that it didn't start. Anyways when we got it home we put new gas in it and tried to start it. It started up a little rough but we were super surprised. We knew it had a aftermarket carb and pipes on it (S&S Super E carb with Vance and Hine pipes). So this is where our issues come in. It was backfiring out the pipes when we would accelerate and whenever we would try letting out the clutch in first it would bog super hard ONLY at the very very end of the clutch to the point where it practically wasn't running anymore and then it would come back to life. We took it to a shop and it stopped backfiring after the guy rejetted it but it still does the bogging down issue. We tried to set it back to factory settings by the manual from S&S and tuning it from there but still, the problem persists. Does anyone have any clue as to why it does this?
